I used to treat a max-level weapon in Black Ops 7 as a finish line. Now it feels more like a door you can choose to open. After a few nights of matches, you'll notice that little "Prestige Available" nudge sitting in the Gunsmith, tempting you to start the loop again, especially if you're the type who likes chasing rare looks or running a CoD BO7 Bot Lobby to speed up progress without changing your whole routine.

Pressing the button isn't subtle. Your weapon drops back to level 1, and the game yanks your practical stuff away: most attachments lock again, and your carefully built setup is suddenly a "starter" gun. The good news is the cosmetic side doesn't get wiped. Camos you earned, stickers, charms, reticles—those stay yours. So the pain is mostly in your performance for a while. You'll feel it the first time you spawn in and realise your recoil control is gone because your favourite grip isn't unlocked yet.

This is where the system starts to make sense. Early weapon prestiges hand out permanent attachment unlock tokens, and they're huge. Use them on the one part you hate re-earning: maybe your go-to optic, maybe the barrel that makes the gun feel "right." Do that and the next reset stings less, because you're not stuck playing blind or underpowered for ten levels. You'll also pick up universal camos along the way, which is nice because it spreads the reward across your whole arsenal instead of locking it to one rifle.

Once you hit Weapon Prestige Master, the game stops pretending it's casual. The level cap stretches way out, usually all the way to 250, and it turns into a proper commitment. You're not just getting XP by accident anymore; you're planning sessions, picking modes you can tolerate for hours, and trying not to burn out. The milestones matter because they're visible: hit 100, 150, 200, and you start collecting those mastery camos that basically scream, "Yeah, I stuck with this." At 250, you unlock the animated camo, and it's the kind of thing people notice in killcams.

For most players, probably not. Resetting a weapon over and over can mess with your loadouts, and it can make you feel like you're always rebuilding instead of improving. But if you like having one "signature" gun that looks different from everyone else's, Weapon Prestige does that better than the old system ever did. If you decide to go for it, pick one weapon you genuinely enjoy, pace yourself, and when you're ready to make the grind a bit smoother you can always buy CoD BO7 Bot Lobby and keep the focus on the rewards instead of the slog.
